At the behest of the Morgan Family Foundation, COECON assisted with the formation and launch of the California Stewardship Network (CSN). Comprised of eleven diverse regions across California, the Network focuses on the “stewardship of place”—which requires attention to the economic, environmental, and social dimensions of a region. These regional groups meet on a regular basis and exchange best practices.

Working with the regions, COECON developed the CSN report Thriving Regions Lead to a Thriving State - a shared agenda for action to promoting California’s Economic Recovery through Regional Strategies. Released in 2010, Thriving Regions became one of the framing documents for the first-ever California Economic Summit in May 2012.
