The California Green Innovation Index (CA GII) tracks the state’s progress in reducing GHG emissions, generating technological and business innovation, and growing businesses and jobs that enable the transition to a more resource-efficient economy as California adopts innovative energy and emissions policies.
COECON has developed an approach for identifying and tracking the growth of businesses with primary activities in the Core Clean Economy. The accounting of green business establishments and jobs is based on multiple sources for the identification and classification of green businesses and also leveraged a sophisticated internet search platform, the parameters of which were designed by COECON. This methodology was developed for work carried out on behalf of Next 10, a California-based nonprofit, and published in the California Green Innovation Index and Many Shades of Green.
